Q&A - Morgan Arbez with GRIT Distribution

Can you tell us a bit about your ‘backstory’ and how you got started?

I grew up in a tiny town on an island, with just 400 people. Even as a child, I felt different—like I didn’t quite fit in. I wanted more for my life than what I saw around me, and that desire fueled me. Without realizing it at first, I’ve always pursued self-development, constantly seeking to figure out the limits of my potential. This drive has shaped who I am, leading me to the work I do today.

What was the “Aha Moment” that led to the creation for your current company?

I realized I already had the answers my clients were searching for. I saw that I embodied the qualities I would look for in a business growth partner—someone I’d trust to get the job done no matter what. It was a convergence of all my skills and experiences into one clear purpose, making it undeniable that I could deliver real value to others.

What do you think makes your company stand out?

Grit. We are gritty. There is no BS. We just do what we say we are going to do. No excuses.

Tell me about what you're working on now?

Opening the second location for GRIT Distribution in Austin, Texas.

What has been your favorite moment in your career so far?

The day my husband handed in his resignation after a 27-year career to work full-time in business with me was unforgettable. There’s no one else I’d rather have by my side as we build something we’re truly proud of.

What measure do you use to determine success?

I measure success by my ability to look myself in the mirror and feel at peace. It comes down to a few key questions: Did I give my best effort? Did my actions reflect who I claim to be? And did I make choices rooted in my core values?

What piece of advice has impacted you the most?

Two pieces of advice that have profoundly shaped me are:

  1. "It’s okay to let down as many people as it takes to avoid letting down yourself." This taught me the importance of prioritizing my own integrity and well-being.
  2. "You can do almost anything you want, as long as you’re willing to put in the effort to develop the skills required." This instilled the belief that with hard work and dedication, growth and achievement are always within reach.

What message would you like to give to anybody who has a plan of creating something of their own and making a living through it?

Here’s my single best piece of advice: It’s you against you. No one else truly cares, and the sooner you realize that, the stronger you’ll become. Mistakes are part of winning—each one is a lesson if you choose to learn from it. The only real failure is quitting on yourself. Stay 100% true to your values and your vision. Integrity is everything: if it feels wrong, don’t do it. But if it scares you in the right way, take that step forward.
At the end of the road, you’ll face yourself—and only yourself. You’ll want to love the person you see in the mirror and live with no regret. This only happens when you stay true to who you are, confront your fears, and keep moving forward with courage. Take the leaps that feel right and hold true to your values.
