More leads won’t save your business.

Look, I know this seems diametrically opposed to everything you’ve heard before. Every marketing and sales coach on IG is telling you that you need more leads. 

You’ve been lied to. 

If you believe that your success lies in the volume of leads you can generate, I’m sorry to tell you that it just isn’t true. If you are on the hamster wheel chasing more and more leads, what you will likely find is that it is exhausting and ineffective. The real flex is attracting perfect leads.

Imagine bringing in thousands of dollars each month… but the funds are flying out the door before you can even account for them. It’s like your money is being sucked right out of your account. This is what it feels like when you prioritize quantity over quality of leads. It’s like you're working your tail off but never getting ahead. You’re burning through resources and never seeing results. Can you relate?

The High Cost of Wrong Leads

Chasing the wrong leads not only costs you money and time, but also erodes your confidence. You find yourself doing all of the right activities and having dozens of people download your opt-in, jump on your calendar, or reach out to you, only to have far too many of them say things like: 

Let me think about it,” or “Can you lower the price?”

 

Hearing these responses over and over can chip away at the confidence of even the most competent seller.

What’s a Perfect Lead?

Spending time and energy on the wrong leads will hinder you from scaling your business and reaching your potential. Prioritizing perfect leads, on the other hand, will allow you to focus your effort and expertise on those who are decisive and willing to invest.

Finding “perfect leads” may feel like an impossible task, but your perfect leads are much closer than you could ever imagine. Clarity in what you’re looking for is key.

Your Perfect Lead Is Someone Who

Has the problem you are the expert at solving, and is actively looking for a solution.
Resonates with your vibe! They share your core values and trust that you can help them.
Is an action taker. They have the desire, capacity, and preparedness to invest in the solution you deliver.

 

Change Your Mindset From Desperation to Attraction

Most business owners get caught up in believing that if they cast a wide net, they will catch someone. This is a recipe for disaster and a sure way to make you feel like a failure in sales.

To transform your lead generation, shift your approach from seeing leads as numbers and start seeing them as opportunities for impact. When you obsess over helping people, it changes the way you show up. It’s evident in your messaging, and the people who will most benefit from your offer will start showing up and asking you to help them; instead of you begging the wrong people to buy from you. Know this… You can’t say the wrong thing to the right person.

Finding the right audience and intentionally attracting them can change everything in your business and for your confidence. When you become intentional and authentic, successful sales become a natural extension of your conversations.

Build Connections, Not Just Pipelines

Connecting should never feel forced or robotic. Focus on building genuine connections, whether it’s through one-on-one meetings, attending conferences, or leveraging your current network. Perfect leads often come from people who know you best or have experienced your authenticity. Nurture your current relationships and trust that YOU are enough to cause people to want to refer to you.

What Happens When You Attract Perfect Leads?

When you decide that quality is better than quantity, you will make a bigger difference in the lives of the people you are called to serve.

Imagine your conversion rate skyrocketing because you are having conversations with people who need and want what you have to offer, and they are ready and willing to invest. Envision a sales process that you love… One that doesn’t drain every ounce of your time and energy and actually facilitates more closed sales.

This is what happens when you stop chasing and start attracting.

One of my favorite success stories comes from a client who had begun to despise her business. Every moment of her time was filled having discovery calls with people who were not ready to invest or holding coaching sessions with people who were constantly asking for price breaks, not paying invoices on time, or disrespecting her time by not showing up on time for appointments. She thought this way of doing business was the norm, and thought that because she was busy, she was successful.

After overhauling her lead generation process and revamping her ideal client profile, she had far fewer leads, but 80% of them were perfect leads. She now enjoys her work and has gotten back dozens of hours in her month. Also…she has more than doubled her revenue in less than a quarter.

 

The Truth About Leads

Don’t believe the lie that leads are the key to your success.

You need better leads. Perfect leads. Stop chasing. Start attracting.

Shift your mindset and show up as your authentic, amazing self. They’re waiting for you.
